DAEMONS - Transport and turnover of nutrients from source to sea

DAEMONS - driving processes and effects of changed composition of nutrients from source to sea is a 3-year research project linked to Gårdsjön's research station and started in January 2020. The project investigates flows of dissolved organic material and nutrients in the Anråseån catchment area, from land to watercourses and lakes, and out into the fjord.

The project's goal is to provide the knowledge needed to understand and predict future transport of water, nutrients and dissolved organic matter in a world of changes in land use, climate and atmospheric pollution.

The project also aims to identify which measures in the landscape can reduce browning and eutrophication. Researchers from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, IVL Swedish Environmental Institute, Uppsala University and DHI Sweden participate in the project consortium.

The customer group with representatives from e.g. The County Administrative Board, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, Stenungsund Municipality and Sportfiskarna ensure that the research is designed with regard to the local environmental work for a better water environment in watercourses, lakes and coastal seas.
