Tools for Sustainable Construction – One stop shop

The demand for sustainable building is increasing as the construction sector accounts for nearly 40 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions and one-fifth of Sweden's emissions. Making conscious material choices, conducting climate declarations for new construction and renovation, and reusing materials during renovation are some of the challenges currently facing the construction and civil engineering industry.

Digital environmental information for a circular construction industry (eBVD)

Retrieve your environmental information via eBVD and create uninterrupted digital flows of environmental data that support you in reuse and recycling.

By retrieving your environmental information digitally from the eBVD portal, environmental data about various building materials can accompany a construction project at every stage, from planning and construction to management, without losing fundamental information.

The information in the portal follows the eBVD format, an industry standard for environmental and health information about products used in construction. The system serves as a consolidated database where manufacturers can register and store their building product declarations digitally. All information provided in these declarations is searchable and can be transferred via API to wherever it is needed.

The building product declarations in the database include information about construction products, which is requested for the phasing out of hazardous substances and the creation of digital logbooks, for example, through requirements from building certification systems such as LEED, BREEAM, and Miljöbyggnader. It is also a crucial foundation for establishing future circular flows.

Sustainability Labeling for Furniture (Möbelfakta)

Choose quality furniture with the Möbelfakta reference and labeling system. Möbelfakta is a tool for producers, buyers, designers, architects, and others who use or work with furniture.

Möbelfakta is a sustainability label for furniture owned by IVL and Trä- och Möbelföretagen (TMF). In the database, you will find furniture and furniture series that meet Möbelfakta's requirements in terms of quality, environment, and social responsibility. The database is open and freely available for anyone to search.

The requirements align with those set for furniture by the National Agency for Public Procurement, Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions, and SKL Kommentus Inköpscentral (SKI).

IVL is the majority owner, ensuring Möbelfakta’s independence as a Type 1 eco-labeling system. Today, Möbelfakta has nearly 60 active companies with over 1,000 furniture items or furniture series. Möbelfakta began as a quality label back in 1972.

Climate Declaration of Buildings (BM)

Byggsektorns Miljöberäkningsplattform (BM) is an industry-wide tool for buildings. It is based on life cycle analysis methodology and enables a non-expert to create a climate declaration for a building.

Choosing the right materials and construction techniques affects a building's climate performance throughout its life cycle. IVL's in-house developed BM tool supports environmentally certifying or creating a climate declaration for your building projects per legal requirements. You can also use it to set requirements for your suppliers to reduce their and your company's climate impact.

Complete logbook for construction products (BASTA)

Did you know that BASTA is the industry’s only independent environmental assessment system for construction and civil engineering products, and that the BASTA database is open and freely accessible for everyone to search?

Make conscious material choices with the help of our database and document them in our project tool. With our additional analyses, you can easily get an overview of the building's environmental impact, chemical content, and potential for circular construction.

With BASTA’s logbook, you can maintain a logbook for your construction and civil engineering projects simply and cost-effectively. By selecting products from the BASTA database, you get information on the levels of requirements the product qualifies for, as well as a measure of the product's circularity and content of renewable raw materials. If the products are not listed, you can easily add them yourself through our connection to the Finfos article database. Additionally, digital transfers of chemical content from the eBVD are also made, making BASTA the market’s most complete product database for logbooks.

With our analysis service, you get a simple overview of the building's environmental impact and its readiness for future reuse. With our deviation management service and space to fill in quantity and location, you can also easily meet market and certification system requirements for logbooks.

Product bank and marketplace for the reuse of furniture and construction resources
(CCBuild)

Inventory and assess your furniture and building materials for reuse with our product bank, and showcase them internally or externally on our marketplace for reusable resources at CCBuild.

With IVL’s product bank, you can build your own database of internal resources. By adding our value analysis, you also receive quality assessments and evaluations of the reuse potential of your products, along with ongoing tracking of key metrics such as climate savings and reduced waste volumes due to reuse. The application is versatile, and you can use and adapt the functionality according to your needs.

With the CCBuild marketplace, you can then make products available internally or externally. You can also search for other reusable products for sale and create a selection of items to be used in reuse projects.

Currently, you can access our reuse tools by joining as a partner in the collaboration and development project managed by CCBuild.
